"The King and I" takes place in a country that we now call Thailand, but in this movie, it is still Siam. Anna Leonowens (Deborah Kerr) is a british subject who has arrived in Bangkok, Siam to teach the royal children of King Mongkut (Yul Brynner). At first, Mrs. Leonowens and the king do not get along because the king has broken his promise to give Mrs. Leonowens a house of her own, but as the two people grow closer to each other, one of the most amazing friendships in film history develops.
